Hello girls! =)
I'm working on with the second lecture, but I'm going to talk a little bit about the things we learned and talked about in the first lecture, The fashion world! ^~^
Actually, before we started with any lecture and before we learned anything, we had to send in an assignment where we chose a picture of a design and then described what kind of model it was, what texture was used, what color the design is of etc... out of self-taught knowledge, just so the teacher can see how much you know and so on. But I think I was TOO careful and picky when I was searching for a picture to analyze, that it took longer time than writing the analyze itself :p
This is the picture that I chose for my first assignment, the analyze~
Now to the first lecture!! --------->>
The first lecture was really interesting and made me determined about my goals!
My goals was almost the same before this lecture, but it became more clear. It was about the two types of fashion designers, production designer (that designs whatever they want in amounts) and service designer (that designs one design for a customer, then another design for another customer depending on what the customer want). They also talked about the specialty in fashion, like what design field/area do you want to work in? What is your target group? Also, what type of fashion will you chose to work with, individual design (where you can choose Haute couture/high fashion sweing or Custom design) or production design (where you can choose Fashion brand or Manufacturers)? And lastly, she talked about the different fashion styles!
For our base assignment we had to decide what we will start with as designers', and write it down. Because it's better to start with one thing, focus on it, become sure about it and famous for it, and then you can start and try other things you have in mind. I personally would like to be a production designer with production designs, "prêt-à-porter" or also known as "ready-to-wear", for my own fashion brand. That's my goal and dream! When it comes to the design field and target group I would probably start with "daily clothes" or maybe I should call it "high street fashion" for women between the age 18-45! But of course, things can change in the future..
As I said, we also talked about fashion styles! Do you know the four main fashion styles? Let me tell you. There's the romantic style, dramatic style, creative style and classic style! We can take the designs of Vera Wang as an example of romantic style. Coco Chanel is famous for her classic style, and Dolce & Gabbana are famous for their dramatic and creative style. I can say that I'm not so interested in that style. I like the classic and romantic style more. Maybe just a minimum of dramatic and creative style, but mostly classic and romantic! The style I like and want to design is not too much or too "weird", and not too simple either. I like when a design has small details that makes it look different from other design. I would like to design clothes that will make a woman look chic, elegant, beautiful and cute at the same time. So a feminine style is what I'm reffering to!!
Okay now I'm talking to much again.. :p I'll show you pictures that I used as examples of the four styles on my base assignment for this lecture so you can see how they can look like. How you know what kind of style it is depends on the model of the design, the texture and the colors!
